Early Life & Background

I am Dr. Dhananjay Regmi, born in 1975 in Syangja District, a beautiful region in western Nepal. Growing up amidst the scenic landscapes of the Himalayas, I developed a deep appreciation for nature and community development from an early age. My upbringing instilled in me strong values of integrity, perseverance, and service, which have guided my personal, academic, and professional journey.

Education & Academic Excellence

I obtained my Ph.D. in Environmental Earth Science from Hokkaido University, Japan, in 2006, where I specialized in mountain geomorphology and glaciology. Following my doctorate, I served as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow for the Global Land Project at the NODAL office in Sapporo, Japan, contributing to international research on land systems and climate change. I further enriched my expertise by completing a three-month Post-Doctoral course in Dendrochronological Research at Arizona University, USA, as a Haury Fellow. My academic journey reflects a commitment to scientific rigor, environmental stewardship, and global collaboration.

Professional Career

I have served as an educator, researcher, and administrator, dedicating my career to advancing education and sustainable development. As CEO of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), I led initiatives that revived Nepal’s tourism industry during challenging times, including the COVID-19 pandemic. I have also contributed to various national and international forums, sharing insights on environmental conservation, tourism development, and public policy.

Political Journey

Aligned with the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), I champion transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership in governance. My political involvement is rooted in a desire to serve my community, improve public systems, and empower youth and local entrepreneurs. I advocate for policies that promote sustainable development, education, and social equity.

Achievements & Recognition

Throughout my career, I have been recognized for academic excellence and public service. Notably, I received the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Special Award, acknowledging NTB’s critical role in the revival of Nepal’s tourism sector during the COVID-19 pandemic. I have also published research in international journals and contributed to global discussions on environmental and tourism policy, earning recognition from peers and institutions worldwide.
